Description

The purpose of the trip is to attend a two-day workshop at Sorbonne University and join a large group of tourism and urban geography scholars researching the Paris 2024 Olympics. Local researchers have been researching a range of contemporary tourism and events themes already, and my senior role is to join paper-writing teams and help frame outputs. Dr Mike Duignan is a former PhD student that I recruited at Anglia Ruskin University and has since worked at Coventry, Surrey and now Central Florida, USA. I have published with Mike in 4* Annals of Tourism Research journal and in 2 Event Management articles (ranked 2). The attached email details the nature of the workshop and the expected outputs. I am not that familiar with Tourism as a field and this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a very high quality, international team that will likely produce impactful research outputs on Mega Sporting Events (MSE) over the next 2-3 years.

I am now in the early stages of preparing two academic papers based on the discussions and data being collected in the this group of scholars
