Both my research and teaching experiences consist of knowledge in the fields of nursing and public health. My background profession is in nursing and I have some published scientific articles with nursing focus but I have also worked and published in the public health field almost as much as in the nursing field.
The main subject of my research is nutritional habits and physical activity levels among the female population in Saudi Arabia, "Nutrition, Weight Status and Physical Activity in Saudi Arabia – with Special Focus on Women".
The results of my studies emphasize the coexistence of underweight and overweight/obesity among both healthy persons and in-hospital patients and sometimes even within the same family. Furthermore, the fact that patients at risk of undernutrition or with manifest undernutrition do not get adequate nutritional care is understandable given our results showing that the interviewed nurses were not given the authority to provide the nutritional care that they thought necessary. With the light of my results, a reasonable suggestion is that the promotion of physical activity and nutritional education for women should be a major target for policy makers as well as public health practitioners and researchers. The goal for such activities would be to prevent the inevitable health complications related to poor dietary habits and lack of physical activity.
Currently, I am involved in other research projects like:
-Positive body image in European children and adolescents – Group leader for Task Group 11 within the Appearance Matters project, a European multi-centre project.
-PROM and PREM in Swedish perinatal care – a project based on the pregnancy data register (Graviditetsregistret ©) in Sweden and in cooperation with Dr. Pernilla Ny, a senior lecturer and researcher att HKR. Pernilla Ny.
-Happy Daddy Memories – a project in Sweden and in cooperation with a midwife senior lecturer and researcher att HKR, Pernilla Ny.
-Characterization of P. gingivalis biofilm formation – statistical analysis on lab-data in cooperation with researchers at Örebro University, Sweden.
I am also:
