Doctoral Student in Health Sciences with a Focus on Person-Centredness for Health and Well-being

I am currently a doctoral student in the project “Person-Centredness as an Innovative Framework for Health-Promoting, Sports Education at Upper Secondary schools.” The project started in 2022, with the planned dissertation in spring 2027.

Description of the Research Project

The project explores the complex relationship between sports and health within a school context.

Currently, a prevailing competitive logic and professionalisation mean that Swedish sports activities in general—and sports education in upper secondary schools in particular—do not reach their full potential as a resource for young persons’ athletic development and health.

The overall aim of the project is to examine how person-centredness, as an innovative framework, can contribute to understanding processes and activities related to learning, health, and personal development among students in sports education at upper secondary level. Using both qualitative and quantitative research designs, the studies aim to generate knowledge on how sport education can be viewed from new perspectives to create healthier environments for active young persons.

Teaching

In parallel with my doctoral position, I am a part-time lecturer in the Public Health Science Programme with a focus on Behavioural Science at Kristianstad University (HKR) since 2017.

Previously, I worked as a lecturer at the Department of Sport Sciences at Malmö University from 2014 to 2017. My teaching primarily focused on exercise physiology, sports medicine, ergonomics, and training science.
