Personal profile
Research
My background is in computer science, psychology and pedagogy, which resulted in a teaching degree for upper secondary school. After graduating, I became interested in the intersection between information technology and psychology, which led me to study a master's degree in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. After that, I continued with a Ph.D. education in Information Society at Stockholm University, where I examined the interplay between these two areas in the context of democratic engagement.
My doctoral dissertation, titled "Co-creative democracy: Conceptualisation of co-creative media to support democratic engagement in society", adopted a concept-driven design research strategy to propose a concept for co-creative media. Co-creative media aims to broaden citizens' democratic commitment by creating virtual spaces where new ideas, initiatives, knowledge, solutions and digital tools can emerge.
From a research point of view, I focus on co-creation and participatory processes, the application of digital technology for democracy and concept-driven design. I also contribute to the field of education by researching and publishing textbooks related to the use of social media for learning, the application of coding when teaching web development as well as website design, and mobile applications through various markup and programming languages.
Teaching
My teaching focuses on design aesthetics for web development, responsive web design, coding, user experience, usability testing, quantitative method and supervision of degree projects at the bachelor and master levels.
