    Personal profile

    Research

I am Reader and Associate professor in The teaching and Learning of Swedish. I am interested in what happens (and what does not happen) when teachers and pupils meet in teaching and learning during learning activities. I have a special interest in the development of digital technology and how it has affected the possibilities for learning since the 1990s.  My research deals mainly with theoretical approaches of conditions and terms for contemporary meaning-making and practice-based exploration of how curricula can be developed to meet the possibilities and challenges offered by digital technology.

In my thesis from 2014 I discuss different aspects of teaching from a multimodal theoretical perspective, which I consider to be an apt framing in order to understand and develop contemporary learning and teaching.

I have also been working together with teachers in compulsory school and after school activities in order to develop a language-based approach in their teaching. Another of my interests concerns the role of fiction in the school environment.

From January 2022 to December 2025 I work with schools and researchers Sylvana Sofkova Hashemi and Anna Åkerfeldt with the project Teachers' meta-knowledge and assessment practices in digital, multimodal learning environments funded by the Swedish Institute for Educational Research.

Togehter with Christina Lindh and a school I work in a writing development project.

    Teaching

Additional to research I am also a teacher in Swedish, history and social science and have worked in secondary- and upper secondary school for many years. I am currently working in teacher training programs and have been engaged in programs for teachers launched by The Swedish National Agency for Education.

I am the supervisor of two doctoral students: Kristian Blomberg Kjellström and Emma Björemark.
