Project Details

Short Description

This project is in collaboration with PWC. It is to examine the differences between the competence assessment gap between accounting graduates and accounting employers.

Description

This research project aims to compare the assessment of work readiness from both the accounting graduates' and employers' perspectives. Accounting graduates form their own view on the competence and readiness that they have developed during their education, which make them feel more or less comfortable to start working. However, although accounting graduates may perceive themselves as having developed certain level of competence from school, they do not yet see the big picture of what their job tasks require. in contrast, the employers of the new graduates make their own assessment on what they perceive to be the skills possessed by the graduates. The employers' assessment is based on what they understand to be the requirements of the tasks for which the graduates are hired to do.

The research project is important in terms of creating the understanding and knowledge of employable skills to improve accounting education in universities.
