Abstract
This chapter is about municipal corporatisation in Italy. We describe the local government context and the historical trends in corporatisation. We also discuss legal forms (public versus private law), the organisational characteristics and the various types of autonomy of municipally owned corporations (MOCs). Finally, we discuss the role and composition of boards of directors of MOCs.
