Att leva med icke-muskelinvasiv urinblåsecancer

: En litteraturöversikt om patientens upplevelser

Abstract

Background: Bladdercancer occurs in the mucous membrane of the bladder, it`s divided into non-muscleinvasive or muscleinvasive cancer. The disease is most common in men, the median age at diagnosis is 75 years. At present, there´s limited research on patient’s experience living with non-muscleinvasive bladdercancer. To increase the nurse's ability to work in a more person-centered way with this patientgroup, the state of knowledge needs to be investigated. Aim: The aim was to shed light on how patients experience living with non-muscleinvasive bladdercancer. Method: A general literature review based on scientific articles with qualitative or mixed method. Searches with systematic approach were performed in two databases with nursing as subjectarea. Relevant articles were reviewed according to HKR's review template for qualitative studies. The analysis was then performed according to Friberg (2023a) analysismethod in four steps. Results: The analysis of the patient's experience living with non-muscleinvasive bladder cancer resulted in two main categories and five subcategories. The patient's experiences from within; Worry and anxiety during the cancer journey, Feelings of fear, Feelings of calm and Feelings of discomfort and embarrassment and Patient's experiences in meeting with others; Adapting to the burden and Feelings of loss. Discussion: Shenton 2004) four concepts of trustworthiness started the method discussion. In the result discussion, two findings are highlighted: Worry and anxiety during the cancer journey and Adapting to the burden. These findings are discussed on basis of Ekman (2011) person-centered nursingmodel, societal perspective and ethical perspectives as the principle of beneficence and principle of respect for autonomy.
