Abstract

The overall aim of the study is to create a deeper understanding regarding the importance of the preschool teachers meaning for children's opportunities to physical activities in the preschool environment. With the study, we want to find out what meaning the preschool teachers have on children’s physical activity in the preschool and how they are using it. The study is based on semistructured interview questions with personal contact, through sound recordings and notes. The preschool teachers connect physical activity to movement and motor development, it was only one that mentioned the heart race-increasing activities. Preschool teachers mentioned how important the preschool’s environment is to be able to offer physical activities for the children. They also talked a lot about interaction and role models, what role interplay and role models have in the preschool activities between preschool teachers, children between themselves and preschool teachers and children.
