Abstract

The main goal of this study was to contribute to the research at after-school centers. The aim of the study was to investigate how teachers in after-school centers identify risks in the schoolyards. All information has been obtained through personal interviews and semi-structured interviews. This empirical evidence has then been analyzed against the theoretical starting point: ecological theory, Curricula, Governing documents, and contemporary research. During the interview, the afterschool teachers discussed the importance of their presence in the schoolyard, the maintenance of the schoolyard, and the most significant risks they identified. The main risks highlighted by the after-school teachers were related to the friend swing, climbing frame, and trees. The analysis and discussion resulting from this interview session strengthened the study’s purpose and question. The after-school teachers perceived reliability and honesty in their answers further corroborated the findings.
