Customer contact in retail has become increasingly psychological and emotionally demanding. A meeting between the employed and the customer is usually a friendly meeting and the customer are usually satisfied with the service. However, in recent times, situations of threats and violence, insecure employment and high workload have increased for retail workers which may cause the employees to experience negative stress and insecurity. Still, many remain and enjoy their work in retail.
The purpose of the study is to identify factors that affect the psychosocial working environment in retail and employee health and well-being. Method: Data collection was done through two individual interviews and two group interviews.
The results of the study show that community and support, clear and direct communication and influence in your work, experienced a positive impact on employee health and well-being. Lack of recovery, inadequate leadership and unclear delegation were a few factors that adversely affected employee health. Knowledge and understanding of the impact of the psychosocial work environment on both the profitability of the business and above all for the individual should be met. Knowledge and understanding can have a positive impact on national economi and the public health.
