The aim of this study is to investigate what makes children move and what the work with children's movement activity in the school-age educare looks like. The survey has a phenomenographic perspective where school-age educare teachers´ perceptions are at center. The study is based on a qualitative method where seven school-age educare teachers with qualifications in the school subject of physical education and health have been interviewed in western Skåne. The results showed that the school-age educare teachers’ organizational conditions, the school-age educares physical, free and social environment, a varied range of sports and activities and parents' commitment and active lifestyle make children move. Central to the work with children's movement activity in the school age educare is to start from children's interests, needs and experiences, the school-age educare teacher's stimulating approach and the school-age educare teacher's compensatory efforts towards home and extracurricular activities. Based on the study's results in relation to previous research, the conclusion can be drawn that school-age educare teachers should direct their focus towards physically inactive children in order to equalize differences in children's different conditions.
