Abstract

This qualitative study aims to investigate and analyze teachers’ work situations in relation to late modern society. The research methodology has been designed through a qualitative and idea analytical interview format in which secondary high school teachers have been allowed to reflect on their professions Another purpose is to understand its variability in the fluid modernity. The results of the study shows that late modern tendencies, such as marketing, precarization, individualism, and digitalization, have overturned the teachers’ and school's preconditions for successful education. The purpose of creating capable and well-educated citizens is replaced in late modernity by a consumption-like colonization of the school system as a whole.
