Today's landscape often consists of monocultures such as arable land, grassland cultivation and production forest. The historical mosaic landscapes are rarer. In Renemolund, outside Ödeshög, three cattle have been studied with the help of GPS for a period in the summer of 2024. The cattle grazed in a varied pasture that contained both open pasture, hay meadow, forest pasture and wetland. The aim was to find out how the cattle chose to move between different types of land and whether different times of the day or weather variations affected the choices. The results show significant differences in how the cattle make their choices and that both the time of day and the weather can influence. The clearest pattern was that they used one and the same place in the forest pasture as their sleeping place. Further studies can lead to a better use of different types of land for grazing, partly to promote biodiversity and partly to prevent overgrowth in the landscape.
