Background: As a nurse in health care, you will encounter patients with cancer who need palliative care at the end of life. The background discusses what end-of-life care is and what the nurse's role is and how the patient's needs can be promoted. Purpose: The purpose was to shed light on nurses' experiences of palliative care for patients with cancer at the end of life. Method: A general qualitative literature study with a systematic literature review that contained 10 articles retrieved from the databases Cinahl Complete, PubMed and one article from a manual search. HKR's review template for qualitative studies was used when reviewing the articles and analyzed based on Friberg's five-step model. Results: The results were presented in two main categories, the first main category was; Obstacles and challenges for the nurse with the subcategories; Difficulties and challenges at the end of life, lack of time and communication difficulties. The second main category was; Striving for a dignified death with the subcategories; When death approaches and Factors affecting the nurse's well-being. Discussion: The credibility of the study has been assessed based on Shenton's concept of credibility; reliability, verifiability, dependability and transferability. The authors used the credibility concepts to analyze and discuss the method's strengths and weaknesses. In the results discussion, two main findings have been discussed; Communication difficulties and Factors affecting the nurse's mental well-being. These findings have been linked to the Global Goals and two models of person-centred care
