Background: Laws regarding coersion has i one form or another always existed in Sweden. Between the years of 2015 – 2019, 41 323 people were admitted to coersive care in closed psychiatric wards. As part of the coersion, there is coersive mesures that can be used. This includes being put under restraint, force medicated or being isolated. It is difficult to combine the Swedish health and medical care law with the compulsory mental care act because the patient integrity and autonomy is limted. Aim: Was to describe patient´s experiences of coersion in closed psychiatric wards. Method: The studies design is a literature review based on qualitative articles. The articles were found in three different databases. An in depth analysis of the articles was done with the help of HKR´s granskningsmall. A text analysis in five steps was also done on the matreial. Results: The results are based on 10 qualitative articles and descibes patient´s exceriences of coersion in closed psychiatric wards. The Results is presented under three main categories: Being cared for against your own will, The impact of coersive mesures and Lack of communication and the relationships impact and three sub categories. Discussion: The method`s strenghts and weakneses has been discussed using Shenton´s strategies for ensuring trustworthiness in qulitative studies. The main findings were discussed using Barker´s tidal model, ethics and the societal context.
