Abstract

Background: Intimate partner violence against women is an important public
health problem facing women all around the world no matter age or belonging.
Violence affects women both short term and long term and has both physical and
psychological impact. Nurses have a significant role in identifying, preventing and
caring for women exposed to violence. Aim: The aim was to describe nurses'
experiences of encountering women in primary care who have been subjected to
violence in a close relationship by a male partner. Method: General literature
review with a qualitative approach based on scientific qualitative articles. Result:
Three main categories were created from the analysis, uncertainty and fear of asking
the question, conditions and strategies for the meeting, when the professional role
is challenged. Discussion: Based on the following concepts of quality,
confirmability, transferability, reliability and transferability, was the quality of the
study discussed. The two findings that were discussed were uncertainty and fear of
asking about violence, the impact on the professional role. There are obstacles for
nurses to meet women who are victims of violence. Obstacles that occurred were
uncertainty and hesitation as well as lack of time.
