This paper has mainly been written to explore what kinds of values that Swedish
schools produce,what these values are based on and what kind of students and
society that are being created as a result of these values. As a theoretical
foundation for this paper, the work of Hannah Arendt's in “The Human
Condition” has been used which mainly entails the use of her three categories
Labor, Work and Action. These three categories have been used in the context of
Swedish school documents and documents from Swedish politicians to discover
how our schools and politicians decide which values that are necessary to produce
and how they come to the conclusion on which values that are important. The
conclusion we have come to is that the absence of action has paved the way for
the domination of labor. This means that values in swedish schools are not
produced as a result of human interaction, instead it is produced or rather
reproduced by instrumentally created values to secure the necessities of life,
meaning that all values created by this system are false and not based on any other
reality than the reality of necessities of life. Which results in a human enslavement
by labor.
