Abstract

This paper aims to investigate whether Swedish actively managed mixed funds possess timing abilities. The study explores whether the time horizon of data observations has any impact on the funds' performance between the years 2018 and 2022. Few previous studies have examined timing ability of fund managers however none have examined the timing ability of Swedish actively managed mixed funds. The analysis focuses on evaluating the timing skills of 30 Swedish mixed funds in terms of their ability to make strategic investment decisions based on market conditions. This study is based on the effective market hypothesis, CAPM, and arbitrage theory. This study applies a timing model, multiple regression analysis, and a quantitative statistical study as the main mythology to analyze the timing ability of Swedish fund managers timing ability. The study found that there was no evidence of timing abilities within the equity market or the bond market for the Swedish actively managed mixed funds. By examining the performance of mixed funds over a specific period, this research contributes to the existing literature on active fund management and provides insights into the timing abilities of these funds within the Swedish market. The findings of this study can potentially assist investors in making informed decisions regarding their investment strategies and fund selection.
