Tandhygienisters upplevelse av det nya parodontala klassificeringssystemet

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate dental hygienists' experience of the new periodontal classification system in their daily work. A qualitative study has been carried out and the data collection was done through semi-structured interviews with an interview guide as a basis. Nine dental hygienists from five public dental clinics in Skane were interviewed and the interviews lasted between 8 and 29 minutes. The material was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis. The result showed that the dental hygienists could see opportunities with the new classification system, but that the limitations of the new periodontal classification system prevail. The conclusion of the study is that the majority of dental hygienists felt that there were challenges and difficulties in working with the new periodontal classification, and that further training is required for dental hygienists to feel confident in making a diagnosis.
