The aim of this interview study is to investigate the perceptions of school-age educare teachers regarding outdoor education in school-age educare. The study is based on a phenomenographic research approach, which illuminates subjective perceptions of school-age educare teachers regarding outdoor education. The study relies on personal semi-structured interviews with seven informants from southern Sweden. The perceptions of school-age educare teachers were analyzed using a phenomenographic analysis model, resulting in four categories that highlight teachers’ perceptions of outdoor education in school-age educare. The results indicate that school-age educare teachers share both varying and similar perspectives with previous research. Among other things, the results show that teachers perceive outdoor education as facilitating the needs of all pupils, while also acknowledging barriers that teachers must reflect on and address effectively. The results are discussed in relation to policy documents, previous research and literature. The conclusion drawn is that school-age educare teachers perceive outdoor education in school-age educare as facilitating all pupils' learning and needs, and that the combination of outdoor and indoor education provides an adequate complement to support pupils' development. The study's findings also indicate that outdoor education is perceived as challenging due to the large outdoor areas and teachers attitudes towards outdoor teaching.
