Beskrivning

The study aims to answer two research questions:

1. How does incorporating Participatory design principles in web
development impact user satisfaction and perceived usefulness?

2. What challenges do developers face while trying to implement
Participatory design practices within web development, and what
strategies should be implemented to overcome those challenges?

To address these questions, feedback was collected from end-users, who were
defined as the individuals directly utilizing the website. This feedback was
actively incorporated into the design process, resulting in an increase in
satisfaction levels and targeted improvements that enhanced the overall user
experience valuable feedback was obtained, leading to identified areas for
improvement. Incorporating this feedback into the design process resulted in
increased System Usability Scale (SUS) scores, indicating higher user
satisfaction. By observing end-users, specific difficulties and bugs were identified, enabling targeted improvements for enhancing the overall user experience.

Implementing Participatory Design principles introduced challenges such as
scheduling difficulties, technical issues, and potential conflicts due to varying
levels of expertise or opinions among participants. Overwhelming participants
with too many features during a workshop was also identified as an issue.
Collecting and analyzing feedback requires significant time and resources.
Balancing feedback collection with feature development is crucial. Prioritizing
feedback and targeted improvements are more efficient than blind feature
development. Using a separate team for feedback gathering and analysis could
alleviate the trade-off and ensure objectivity.

Overall, incorporating Participatory Design principles has positively impacted
user satisfaction and perceived usefulness in our project. However, challenges
must be addressed to optimize the process and ensure effective participation from end-users.
