Kort sammanfattning
Frailty is increasingly prevalent in the aging population and carries an increased risk of poor health outcomes. An inadequate nutritional intake is a clinical marker for frailty and interventions regarding nutrition may prevent the onset of frailty. Knowledge gaps are important to identify in order to develop evidence-based treatment guidelines to prevent frailty and hospitalization among older adults. This systematic literature review aims to investigate how previous studies have described the relationship between frailty and nutritional requirements among older adults (>65 years). A search strategy will be developed according to the PECO structure and searches will be performed in medical databases. Relevance and risk of bias will be assessed according to the Cochrane handbook and presented in a table format. The review process will be described in a PRISMA flow chart. Search results will be presented narratively as themes. This study could contribute with knowledge to develop treatment guidelines.
