Sammanfattning

The purpose of the study is thus to explore the contribution of inclusive climate to the work of culturally diverse healthcare teams. This study has a qualitative descriptive design and is based on 17 interviews with health care professional in an acute unit of a regional hospital in Sweden. The study adopts general inductive approach for analyzing qualitative data. Findings of the study suggest that an inclusive climate serves as an important catalyst for the effective functioning of these teams by highlighting the value of individual and team differences and similarities, stimulating meaningful interaction among culturally diverse healthcare team members, and assisting in establishing engagement structures that benefit the work of these teams. These findings demonstrate the importance of introducing an inclusive climate into healthcare organizations that increasingly employ culturally diverse healthcare teams and identify the mechanisms through which these practices benefit patients, healthcare, and organizations.
