title = "Local food and industrial large scale production",
abstract = "Many local and regional food consumers state their intention to support local communities as the motivation behind buying local or regional food. This chapter compares this view to an economic perspective of what creates value and prosperity in a community. The economic perspective is generally less optimistic of the benefits of local or small scale production. However, as seen towards the end of the chapter, local and regional food producers still have an important role to play on the food market by adopting suitable strategies.",
