Sammanfattning
Nutrition must be regarded in the same manner as other medical treatment with demand for quality nutritional care. Set routines for nutritional management assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, documentation and clear definition of areas of responsibility for care-givers are important. Reduced in-patient time may result in incomplete nutrition therapy in- hospital and must be continued as out-patient care. In conclusion, there is room for improvement in the area of nutritional therapy of the elderly. Nutrition must be seen as an integral part of medical treatment with an overall aim to optimise the quality of life of our elderly patients.
