Rome wasn’t built in a day! Kristianstad’s journey toward climate neutrality

”Where and how to get started?” seems to be a relevant question, whose answer requires continuous efforts and a goal-oriented mindset by municipalities which strive to reach climate neutrality. This report presents the results of the project “Climate Neutral Kristianstad 2030”, whose aim was to accelerate Kristianstad’s transition
toward climate neutrality. As “Rome wasn’t built in a day” (title chosen for this report), the fndings of the project show that, despite the urgency of dealing with the negative impacts caused by climate change and other societal happenings, the transition toward climate neutrality takes time.
The launching and implementation of an innovation project with ambitious goals related to the reduction of harmful greenhouse gas emissions goes through ups and downs. It requires a sound understanding of the current situation, the problems to be tackled, and the actions to be taken. It is characterized by low predictability of results and considerable dependability among various actors, given that sustainability-related transitional change cannot be achieved by a single actor alone.
