Supervision is guiding, stimulating and giving feedback to students' performance and the relationship between supervisors and doctoral students is an important aspect for a successful completion of the thesis. In this paper, the importance of feedback for successful supervision of doctoral students is in focus. However, there has been relatively little literature published on the quality of the feedback in doctoral education and in this paper some different approaches about feedback, in general, and in relation feedback in doctoral supervision is discussed.
