This is a qualitative study in the form of a discourse analysis of governing documents over time. We want to investigate how the late modern structures with their marketing have changed the Swedish school and its knowledge content over time. The purpose of the survey is to investigate whether the Swedish school has gone from a strong focus on democratic education to a focus on market-worthy knowledge and skills. We will use these questions as a starting point 1. How is a possible change in value expressed in the syllabus for social studies between the modern and late modern period? 2. Is it possible to see any market logic in the syllabus for social studies during different time periods, and if so, how?
