    Abstract

    The aim of this study was to examine how the feelings of “being met” from personnel can affect suicidal youth and their parents, when searching for help. Five Swedish parents share their experiences of ”being met” by personnel regarding the care of their child who has taken their life. “Face to face” interviews where done with four of the parents. These were audio taped and then transcribed into text. The last interview was done using email and letter correspondence. The result of the study revealed that the parent’s experiences of “being met” were characterized

    • Not taken seriously

    • Not being cared for

    • Not being listened to

    • A lonely struggle for help
